Rape-aXe :: Ready?

Read about it around a year ago and my first impression was a old memory of my first bag of hurt when a car door shut on my finger. Probably not sure what I'm talking about now so let me introduce what Rape-aXe is, for those who don't know.

From the official site:
------------------------------
A Brief History
The Rape-aXe anti rape condom was developed by a South African woman, Sonnet Ehlers, after witnessing first hand the horrific aftermath of an sexual assault. She felt that something had to be done to stop this growing thread against woman and start to work on the anti rape condom the Rape-aXe. The first prototype was launched on 31 August 2005, at Kleinmond, Cape Province, South Africa.

What Is It?
Rape-aXe is a revolutionary new product that aids in the prevention rapes. This device can later be used to identify the attacker and aid in the apprehension of the perpetrator.

How Does It Work?
The Rape-aXe system consists of a latex sheath, which contains razor-sharp barbs. The device is worn in her vagina like a tampon. When the attacker attempts vaginal penetration the barbs attach themselves to the penis, causing great discomfort. The device must be surgically removed, which will result in the positive identification of the attacher and subsequent arrest.
------------------------------

And it looks like this:

Looks like a piranha on steroids and I can't imagine what my face will look like with this clamped on.

It does look like something pulled out of every mans nightmare but the truth is these exist for a reason. South Africa has been stuck with a problem for quite a while now, where women are raped every 26 seconds. Pretty severe stuff. It's quite sad really that the situation is so bad something like this had to be created. Hope it works out a bit but I can't help but think this might just make the situation worst, the rapist being who he is probably won't stop and run with shark teeth drilled on his penis. Worst case there are probably more than one bastard in cases like these.

UPDATE: Just noticed the first prototype was launched (↑) on my Birthday. Er....

so sad that the world has come to this... and on august 31st!
it's a shame that women have to wear (wear?!) something like this and it's shocking that men out there even allow rape to cross their minds.

this device looks like it's straight out of the movie "saw".

Dakarayo. Of all dates.

Yea...and that's a lot of men..

It'll be like "Saw" if a woman lures a guy into bed with the trap on (in?).

Yeh, that's a possibility. It prevents a couple things but it's got downsides too, like what you just mentioned.

50/50 on this device(?).

I just know that's the last thing I want on my johnson and I sure in hell hope women don't trap guys with this. I think it's a South Africa only though (for now).
