Recent Films :: Ice Age 3

Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs
★★★★★★★☆☆☆ (7/10)

Not sure how it is on the West but down here in the short future 3D is the shit. D-A-S-H-I-T.

It's so BIG you can't choose if you want to wear em ugly BIG 3D shades or not anymore. You can't find a cinema that doesn't sport 3D. Anywhere. Therefore the hole in your wallet is automatically BIGGER as well. To my surprise the 3D effects were pretty good though compared to the previous animation I saw and you can't go wrong with Scrat. Every detail was well executed but the jokes were fityfity. There were good laughs but there were some that really represents the movie title. Good movie and all with nice 3D effects...

But the thing is, when all cinemas sport shades and other options are eliminated, it feels kind of forceful. Especially when the shades are designed for people without glasses. You have to forcefully fit it somehow so the edges hang on your damn frames and you have to be real careful with your head movement so it doesn't slip off. So now you have 2 layers of frame on your face. The existence of it kinda takes away my conscience from the movie and I found myself trying to position the shades once in a while. Chinese have relatively flat noses so don't expect them to stand on firmly either. Either the shades need to be highly developed so they fit like a glove universally OR they should just stop this 3D bull coz although the effects are good it is not worth the extra 80% we're paying for the tickets.

All in all the film is good.

MBP :: 13

Been looking for an alternative ever since my Vaio refused to turn on. Been using her for a good 4 years though, so I guess it's time for a rotation?

Then comes WWDC'09 at a timing that's just signaling the hell out of me to get one of these chumps. So I decided to check it out. This is the 2nd cycle for the macbook pro's (upgrade announcement since the 1st launch) and like the usual Apple routine it's better bang for money (which I think they screw over consumers). My butt cheeks were already itching from the offer, then the bulb told me my brother happens to be a university student so I can get a discount, with a free iPod.

That sealed the deal.

Not sure what the fuss was about regarding the glossy screen. It doesn't reflect at all when the screen is on. It reflects like a mirror when it's off but why the hell would you stare at a blank friggin screen? The gloss and black frame actually pops the color out really well and I was really surprised with the display quality. I haven't tried it outside yet so my fingers are still crossed, but so far so good.

And here's the free iPod. Chose a red nano coz I have a touch already and it's bound to land on the ladies hand. This thing's so thin you can slice cheese with it.

We'll see how long the MBP lasts with my bro's handling.

Check out the deal here.

Survival Cooking.04 :: Pork Curry (No Style)

Didn't realize how long it's been since I left the damn couch.

After watching what Emmerich is doing to us I decided it was time to prepare for the future (again).

Curry and Ramen (noodles) is probably one of the most popular menus in Japan (heck, in the world) so you probably see a section in your local supermarket with a exclusive lane filled with all the instants. It's really handy and the Japanese put extra attention to details (and the fly trap packaging), professional curry out of the box. But this time I went with curry powder, from zilch style.

In Japan yogurt, cocoa, apple and chocolate (yes chocolate), are commonly used for hidden flavors/spices but unfortunately I had none of the above so I just threw in some onions, potatoes and pickled pork. Ofcourse from the previous session, onions first, to pop some smell. Pork, curry powder, water and then potatoes. Cook for about 20 minutes and you're good to go.

What I learnt this time is that the potatoes give the thickness to the curry. Before cutting the potatoes into blocks, cut some chips so they melt, resulting in a more creamy gravy. Maybe common sense but I didn't know how much to put in so it turned out a bit thinner than what I prefer. Pork covered for it though.
