Survival Cooking.03 :: Tonkatsu (Fried Pork Cutlet)

The overall process is very easy, but it's a bit hard for anyone without patience. I'm one of them so it was pretty hard. I'll tell you why later. It's a easy dish but hey everything starts from the basics.

Basically all you do is cut up some meat (pork loin this time), salt&pepper it, and dip into 1.flour > 2.beaten eggs > and 3.panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) in specific order. Prepare a pot of boiling oil and just dip right in for approx. 2 minutes until it turns gold.

Preparing for the boil is the hard part because you have to mix it into flour > beaten eggs > and panko for each piece which is quite a pain in the ass if you're making a whole lot for many people and if you don't have patience. Then you have to boil a few pieces at a time for 2 minutes each. Yes I know if you like cooking that's all fun blah blah but maybe if the AC was on I would of had more patience. It's just too damn hot and humid in HK. I'll continue my mission though and hopefully I won't be tossed in the bin.

You know its a guy cooking when you see the "main course" and the "rice" on the same plate.

The worst thing is cooking just for yourself (and the atokatazuke..)

ROFL ieteru! Kizukanakattaze~. You're right. It's pretty usual for us though coz there's one less dish to wash LOL.

When it's for myself I basically try to avoid all the trouble and just cook myself some noodles...

Does your other half cook or you learning to survive also. Jikan naika..
